Vet Said " Put Him to Sleep, I chose to fight for His Life! Meet Thunder : The Broken-Nosed Stray Cat Who Refuses to Give Up! 🌩
Heart-Wrenching Rescue Journey of One Cat’s Battle Against Pain, and One Woman’s Relentless Love
🐱💓💓💓
In a bustling traditional market, between the scent of tofu and fried snacks, lay a shadow. Curled under the tofu seller’s table, almost invisible to the crowd and chaos around, was a frail, filthy cat — motionless, sick, and struggling to breathe. His name, I later gave him, is Thunder. Not because he was strong when I found him, but because I wanted him to be.
Thunder’s story isn’t just about illness and suffering — it's about hope, faith, and a belief that miracles exist even in the darkest corners of the street. And I want to tell you why this cat has stolen my heart — and why he might steal a small part of yours too.
🐾 The Day I Found Thunder
It was a routine visit to the market — buying daily essentials, nothing out of the ordinary. But as I passed the tofu stall, something caught my eye. It wasn’t movement. In fact, it was the stillness that struck me. There, lying in dirt and shadows, was a cat so disfigured I almost didn’t recognize him as a living creature at first.
His nose was partially gone, eaten away by what I would later learn was a skin tumor. His breathing was raspy, shallow, and painful. He had wounds on his face, his fur was matted with dirt, and his eyes carried the weight of years of silent suffering. People walked past him every day. No one saw him — not really. But I did.
I finished my shopping quickly, picked him up with my trembling hands, wrapped him in a cloth I’d just bought, and took him home. I named him Thunder, praying that beneath the frailty was a spirit strong enough to fight.
🏥 The Harsh Truth from the Vet
That same day, I rushed Thunder to the vet. After a blood test and X-ray, the results were devastating: a malignant skin tumor had destroyed part of his nose and spread to his mouth and throat. The reason he was so weak was because he could barely eat. Every attempt to swallow food was painful, and most of it came back out through his damaged nasal cavity.
The vet told me something that shattered my heart: “His chances of survival are less than 10%. The most humane thing would be to let him go.”
They recommended euthanasia — to let Thunder "sleep." I was silent. Tears welled up in my eyes. But inside, I knew I couldn't let him go.
🙏 Why I Chose to Fight
I’m a solo rescuer — a retired single lady who has never married, and who has dedicated her life to rescuing and rehabilitating abandoned cats and dogs. Over the past 10 years, I’ve helped over 200 strays and currently care for more than 35 rescued cats in my small indoor sanctuary and some are strays.
I work as a freelancer to cover their needs, but my income is limited. Yet, I hold on to one principle that keeps me going: Every soul I meet is not a coincidence, but a divine arrangement. And my duty is not to end their life — but to try, with love, to save it.
I told the vet: “Do what you can. I’ll find a way to cover the costs. Just give him a chance.”
And so, Thunder stayed. He remains under the vet’s intensive care today, receiving pain management, antibiotics, supportive feeding, and constant love.
💔 The Reality of Rescue: Thunder’s Mounting Bills
As of today, Thunder’s medical bills have already reached more than USD 1,600, and they continue to grow. He needs long-term care, special food, pain relief, and possibly surgery if he becomes strong enough.
I won’t lie — I’m overwhelmed. But I cannot give up on Thunder. Not now. Not when he’s still fighting. Not when his eyes look at me and say: “Please, don’t leave me.”
That’s why I’m reaching out to you — to fellow animal lovers, to kind strangers, to anyone who believes that every life matters, no matter how broken.
🧡 How You Can Help Thunder
I’m not asking for much — just a piece of your heart, and perhaps a small donation. It could be the cost of your morning coffee or your favorite snack. But for Thunder, it could mean another day of life, another day without pain.

🐱 Thunder’s Spirit: A Symbol of All Forgotten Strays
Thunder is not just one cat. He is a symbol of so many voiceless animals out there — suffering quietly, longing for a second chance. Most people walk past them, not out of cruelty, but because life is fast and noisy.
But imagine if, just for a moment, you paused. And looked. And saw.And helped.
That’s what I did for Thunder. That’s what I hope you’ll do too.
💬 Final Words from My Heart
Sometimes people say, “Why don’t you just stop rescuing cats? It’s too much.”But I always answer: “How can I stop when they don’t stop needing help?”
Thunder may be only one cat. But if his story touches you, he could be the spark that saves hundreds more.Because kindness spreads. Compassion multiplies. And together, we can be the silent heroes behind each small miracle.
Let’s fight for Thunder.Let’s believe that even the most broken deserve a chance to heal.
With love,— A Cat Mom, a Street Hero, and a Believer in Miracles
